[2025 Illuminations] Mario collaboration mugs and more at the "Christmas Market in Hikari-no-Machi Hakata"

This time, we will introduce you to the "Shibata Sangyo presents Christmas Market in Hikari no Machi Hakata," a winter tradition in Fukuoka that is being held in the square in front of JR Hakata Station!

"Christmas Market in the City of Light, Hakata" will be held every day until December 25th at the square in front of Hakata Station (Hakata Station Central Street, Hakata Ward, Fukuoka City)

The "Christmas Market in Hikari no Machi Hakata" is currently being held in the square in front of JR Hakata Station. In 2025, it will be held from November 1st (Saturday) to December 25th (Thursday). In November, it will be open from 16:45 to 23:00 on weekdays, and from 12:00 to 23:00 on weekends and holidays, and in December, it will be open from 12:00 to 23:00 every day. Admission is free.

The charm of this area is its extraordinary atmosphere! There are about 30 white huts lined up, and once you step inside you'll find yourself in another world.

Also, on the same day as the Christmas market, "Hikari no Machi Hakata" will also begin, decorating the square in front of JR Hakata Station with a spectacular display of 640,000 lights! This year, to commemorate the opening of Nintendo FUKUOKA, the official Nintendo store directly managed by Nintendo Co., Ltd., inside JR Hakata City on Friday, November 14th, a holiday spot decorated with characters and items from "Super Mario" will appear. The symbol tree will also have a special design with character ornaments ♪ *The illuminations will be on until Monday, January 12th, 2026 (national holiday).

One of the greatest joys of the Christmas market is getting an exclusive ear mug!

This year's mugs at the Hakata venue are very stylish, with a marigold-colored design based on illuminations.

There will also be a photo spot at the venue featuring this mug and the official character, San-chan.

Be sure to check out the "Rainy Day Mug" (1,500 yen), which features an impressive illustration by artist Chisato Tanaka, who also created the main visual for "Christmas Advent." It will only be sold on rainy days at four venues: "Christmas Market in Hikari no Machi Hakata," "QTnet presents Hikari no Forest," "KBC FESTA de SANTA," and "Alliance presents TENJIN CHRISTMAS MARKET."

One item that is particularly noteworthy is the "Super Mario Original Mug," which will be on sale in limited quantities from Friday, November 14th.

The mugs will not be sold separately, but as a set with hot chocolate (1,500 yen). To reduce congestion, a numbered ticket system will be in place from November 14th (Friday) to the 24th (Monday, public holiday). Please check the official website for details such as the time, number of tickets, location, and start time of sales for numbered tickets. *No sales on November 15th (Saturday) and 16th (Sunday)

Enjoy classic gourmet food and cute sweets ♪

When you go to a Christmas market, you'll want to enjoy some gourmet food! Here are some of my recommendations.

Butcher of the World "Tornado Sausage"

A Christmas market staple, the long, round "Tornado Sausage" (1,400 yen) is a crispy and juicy dish not to be missed.

If you order it as a set with "Melty Cheese Potatoes" (800 yen), it will be a bargain at 2,000 yen!

PASTERIA "Bacon and Mushroom Peperoncino"

The "Bacon and Mushroom Peperoncino" (1,200 yen) is also delicious. It's great to be able to eat authentic pasta in front of the illuminations! For an additional 100 yen, you can change it to penne, so this is also recommended for those who prioritize ease of eating.

Strawberry WhiteChoco

The "Strawberry White Chocolate" (1,600 yen) from this shop specializing in rich strawberry sweets is a photogenic dish that features sweet and sour strawberries drizzled in rich, melty white chocolate!

Sanchan Cafe "Sanchan Yaki"

The ever-popular "Sanchan Yaki" (600 yen) comes in two flavors: ham, cheese, mayonnaise, and custard. You can also get it in a gift box (+100 yen).

San-chan Baby Castella "Castella Yaki"

Also new this year is San-chan's Baby Castella (5 pieces for 500 yen, 10 pieces for 900 yen)! It comes in three flavors: plain, chocolate, and strawberry, and makes a perfect souvenir. They're so cute you'll almost feel bad eating them, and they look great on social media!

Not just gourmet food! Great miscellaneous goods too!

The venue is filled with a wide variety of exquisite goods that will make Christmas a special day, including candle holders, snow globes, ornaments, and toys.

This is a traditional German clay candle holder (2,000 yen). When you light a candle, a fantastic light will fill the room.

Also, at "Art of Snow," a store specializing in snow globes imported directly from Austria, you can find a selection of crystal-clear snow globes made with meltwater from the Alps. Each one contains a handmade doll, and each one has a different texture, highlighting the quality of handmade items.
