Fireworks Doranbee [Yamakawacho, Kurume City]
The Fireworks Doranbachi, held every year on September 15th, is a Shinto ritual that has been passed down for about 370 years and is a designated intangible folk cultural asset of Fukuoka Prefecture.
The Furukawa family, who had lived in Yamakawa Town for generations, served the Kurume and Arima domains in artillery, and it is said that the tradition began when they taught the people of the area how to make fireworks.

The name "Hanabi Doran Hachi" is unique for a fireworks event. It is said to have originated from the resemblance of the fireworks' flames to the way the bees inside a beehive fly out all at once and scatter when the fireworks are poked.
A large number of fireworks called "parent bees," "baby bees," "explosive sounds," and "tricks" are set up in a 2.5m diameter, 4m high bamboo "beehive." A fuse is then lit from the opposite bank of the temple's pond, and when the fire reaches the "beehive," a thunderous bang and brilliant sparks fly up into the night sky, just like the angry parent and baby bees.
This is a grand folk event that is said to guarantee a good harvest this year once the Doran-Hachi is over.

Akashi Hachiman Yahata Hojoe Fireworks Festival [Kitanocho, Kurume City]
The Akashi Yahata Fireworks Festival is held every year on September 15th to pray for bountiful harvests and good health. It is part of the Akashi Yahata festival and is said to be an event with a history of 300 years.
Approximately 2,000 fireworks will be launched, including Starmine, Niagara, Randam, rotating fireworks, and fountain fireworks. The launch site is in the center of a residential area, about 50 meters from the viewing area. This means that the fireworks will rise almost overhead, allowing you to enjoy a spectacular combination of sound and light.

Asakura Summer Festival [Asakura City]
Approximately 1,000 fireworks will be launched at the "Asakura Summer Festival."
The finale will be the only fireworks display in Asakura City, with a continuous barrage of 10 1/4-foot fireworks! These powerful fireworks will brightly color the summer sky.
There will also be street stalls set up at the venue.

Wasshoi Hyakuman Summer Festival [Kitakyushu City, Kokurakita Ward]
The Wasshoi Hyakuman Summer Festival began in 1973 as the Kitakyushu Festival, and was taken over on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the city's incorporation, and continues to grow.
The two-day festival will conclude with a 10-minute fireworks display on the large lawn of Katsuyama Park.

This huge festival has a variety of activities, including the "Children's Dream Stage" (20th), the "Summer Festival Gathering" (20th) which brings together floats and yamakasa from the city's seven wards, the "Hyakuman Odori" (21st) where thousands of people fill the streets of Komichiji, "WASSHOI MUSIC PARK 2025" (21st) which will feature live performances by Little Glee Monster and others, "Wasshoi YOSAKOI Kitakyushu 2025" (21st), and the "Sapporo Gourmet Fest 2025" (20th and 21st) which will feature around 60 stores setting up gourmet booths and food trucks.

This is a major event that attracts over 1.5 million people every year, so be sure to enjoy it to the fullest.

Make your wishes come true! Good luck fireworks festival [Fukutsu City]
The "Wish-granting! Good Luck Fireworks Festival" is held on the middle day of the Miyajidake Shrine Autumn Festival. Fireworks are launched near the purification pond behind the main hall of Miyajidake Shrine, and can be seen from close to the shrine.
It is said that the wishes that people entrust to the fireworks will rise into the sky along with the fireworks and be delivered to the great god.

Iizuka Summer Fireworks Festival [Iizuka City]
The Iizuka Summer Fireworks Festival has a long history, having been first held in 1922. It is a summer tradition in Iizuka City, attracting 100,000 visitors every year.
To avoid the impact of extreme heat, the event will be held at a different date in 2025.
Approximately 7,000 fireworks, including Niagara Falls and other large-scale fireworks, will be launched into the night sky.
There are many stalls lined up around the venue, making it a lively place.

Chikushino City Festival: Futsukaichi Onsen and Tempaisan Moon Viewing with the Ikiiki Commerce, Industry and Agriculture Festival [Chikushino City]
This festival, which began in 1924, marks its 91st anniversary. It is said that long ago, Sugawara no Michizane, who was exiled to Dazaifu, climbed Mount Tenpai for 100 days, demonstrating his innocence and praying for peace and the safety of the Emperor. This festival is held every year on the day of the harvest moon in autumn to commemorate this event and comfort the spirit of Sugawara no Michizane. On this night, sacred fire delivered from Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine is lit in the Musashi-ji Temple grounds, Tenpai Park, and on the summit of Mount Tenpai, creating a welcoming fire.
There aren't many fireworks, only 390, but the atmosphere is amazing!

Kukinoumi Fireworks Festival [Wakamatsu Ward, Kitakyushu City]
The Kukinoumi Fireworks Festival, which colors Dokai Bay in autumn, is a popular event that attracts over 270,000 visitors every year.
From 2025, the event will be held in October, when the weather is more stable and there is less risk of heatstroke or cancellation due to typhoons.
On this special day, all boat traffic in the bay is stopped, and a launch barge is floated in the center of the bay, from which fireworks such as Odama No. 8 and Starmine (rapid-fire) are launched.
This year, to commemorate the 40th anniversary, approximately 5,000 fireworks will be set off in the night sky, 500 more than usual (there will be no Niagara fireworks from Wakato Bridge).

Yahata 2025 Entrepreneurship Festival [Yahata Ward, Kitakyushu City]
The Yawata Entrepreneurship Festival began as a celebration of the start of operations at the government-run Yahata, and has since become Yahata public festival since 1985. It has now become a representative autumn festival in Kitakyushu, attracting over 600,000 people every year, and the fireworks display is the culmination of the festival.
The festival has a wide range of content, including a 25-hour relay race, a dance contest, and a character show. The Yahata tour allows you to enter areas that are normally off-limits to anyone but those involved. You can see the process by which long, red-hot iron blocks are processed into Shinkansen rails and other products.
There are about 300 stalls lined up around Otani Stadium.
