[Ukiha and Asakura Day Trip] Introducing Must-See Sightseeing Spots and Recommended Cuisine

2025.08.25

Hello. I'm YOKO, a travel and food writer.

As a travel writer with 29 years of experience, I'd like to suggest a day trip route that you can easily take from Fukuoka. This time, I'll be introducing the Ukiha and Asakura areas.

A day trip from Fukuoka to the Ukiha/Asakura area! Start with some shopping at Ukiha Roadside Station!

Located an hour's drive from Fukuoka city, the Ukiha/Asakura area, gently watched over by the Mino Mountain Range, is a spot where you can easily come into contact with nature.

The driving course starts at Ukiha Roadside Station, which reopened in May 2025 with a brighter, more open atmosphere.

Ukiha is known as the kingdom of fruits, and at Roadside Station Ukiha, seasonal fruits are lined up all year round.

It's so popular that people line up before it even opens on weekdays, and the main attraction is, of course, the fruits and vegetables. Grapes are in season right now, and there are a variety of varieties on display, including Kyoho, Pione, and Shine Muscat. Apparently, August to October is the peak time for grape shipments in Ukiha City.

An original souvenir item from Roadside Station Ukiha is the Ukipi Persimmon Manju (6 pieces for 1,080 yen). Ukiha City's mascot, Ukipi, is adorable! The bean paste is made with persimmon puree, a specialty of Ukiha, so you can really taste the persimmon flavor.

On July 29, 2025, a restaurant called "Kifune Shokudo" will open on the premises, where you can enjoy dishes made with local Ukiha ingredients while taking in the spectacular view. Be sure to also visit the observation deck at the back of the product hall.
