[Minami-ku, Fukuoka City] ABURAYAMA FUKUOKA
ABURAYAMA FUKUOKA is a complex outdoor experience facility that opened in 2023 when Aburayama Citizens' Forest and Aburayama Ranch were combined. Here, you can enjoy splashing around in the countless streams that flow through the forest.
When the season begins, the speed, depth, and other information about the current are posted on the website.
Among the many spots, the most popular is Shiranami Falls, with its spectacular white waterfall splashing down. The waterfall is about 120cm deep, and you can get splashed by it or dive into the pool at the bottom.

We also recommend searching for stream creatures such as water striders, crayfish, and shrimp (please be sure to return any creatures you catch or stones you move to their original place).
The Nature Observation Center also has exhibits on creatures that live in streams, so visiting while enjoying some water fun will surely increase your enjoyment!

[Minami Ward, Fukuoka City] Kashihara Park
Kashiwara Park is located in the city center, but is lush with greenery and is popular as a "natural park."
You can enjoy splashing around in the stream that runs through the grounds. There are many shallow areas, so it's relatively safe for small children. There are also creatures living there, such as crabs, water striders, and dragonflies.
Best of all, it's only about a 30-second walk from the parking lot!
There are many trees around the stream, providing plenty of shade so parents can stay cool while watching over the animals.

[Iba, Sawara Ward, Fukuoka City] Nogouchi Valley
Nogouchi Valley is the only valley in Fukuoka City.

The valley stretches for about 3.2 km and features a variety of waterfalls and pools.

You can enjoy playing in the river from just past the entrance sign to around "Mukuroujibuchi" a little further on. It's shallow and there isn't much moss, so even small children can play there safely, as long as the current isn't fast.
*Please do not approach the valley during periods of high water levels due to heavy rain as it can be extremely dangerous.

In addition, there is a 700m-long promenade along the valley, so we recommend taking a walk deep into the valley and enjoying the nature (it takes about 20 minutes from the entrance sign to the very end).
There are some areas where the footing is poor, so please wear sneakers instead of sandals or heels.

The toilet is near the sign at the entrance to the valley. There are no toilets once you enter the valley, so it is recommended that you use the toilet first.

[Higashi Ward, Fukuoka City] Uminonakamichi National Park, a playful fountain and splash pool
The "Playable Fountain" will be available for a limited time only from spring to autumn in the "Wonder World" area of the "Umi-no-Nakamichi National Park." In 2025, it will be open from April 26th (Saturday) to October 13th (Monday, national holiday).
Children will have a blast watching the rhythmic spurting of water! The thrill of not knowing when the water will come out makes it even more fun.

You will definitely get soaked, so please prepare a change of clothes and a towel. You cannot enter the pool naked, but swimming trunks for water play can be purchased at the shop inside the Wonder Shuttle.
The water play area for small children (preschoolers, not available for elementary school students or older) called the "Splash Pond" in the "Chibikko Hiroba" is also very popular. In 2025, it is scheduled to be open from April 26th (Sat) to August 31st (Sun).

The pool is shallow, about 20-30cm deep, and swimwear and swimming trunks are required.

[Kasuga City] Shirozu Oike Park Fountain Square
Shiramizu Oike Park is a comprehensive park developed around Shiramizu Pond.
The "Fountain Square" next to the administration building near the main entrance has a fountain that operates every year from July 21st to August 31st. Within a space with a diameter of 17m, there is one fountain with a water height of 4m and five fountains with a water height of 1m, and the area is bustling with many children playing in the water.

Within the park, there is also an astronomical observatory called "Star Hall" (Friday to Sunday 14:00-21:00 *June 1st to September 15th until 21:30) and the "Children's Square" with 19 kinds of play equipment, including rare large-scale combined play equipment and rope play equipment, so you can have plenty of fun for the whole day.

[Onojo City] Onojo Recreation Forest Waterfront Park
"Onojyo Recreation Forest" is located near Ushikubi Dam.
It is a vast facility made up of paid facilities such as Central Park, Campground, and Sports Park, as well as parks open to the public such as Waterfront Park, Dam Memorial Park, Ide Park (No. 1 and No. 2), Lakeside Park, and Dam Observation Park.

You can splash around in the water at Mizube Park, where you can swim in a 170m-long stream.

[Nakagawa City] Nakanoshima Park
Nakanoshima Park, located in the southern part of Nakagawa City, is a park that makes use of a naturally formed sandbar, and can be enjoyed all year round, with cherry blossoms in the spring, swimming in the river in the summer, and autumn leaves in the fall.
The river is shallow and the current is gentle, making it popular with small children!
The park also houses Kawasemi no Sato, a direct sales store that sells Nakagawa City's recommended products, such as fresh vegetables, homemade prepared foods, bread, and processed foods, as well as the NAKANOSHIMA COFFEE STAND, a takeout-only cafe.
It's a great way to have fun, playing in the river, taking a break with some sweets and drinks at the cafe, and then doing some shopping on the way home.

[Nakagawa City] GOKAYAMA CROSS RIVER PARK
GOKAYAMA CROSS is located around Gokayama Dam, at the southernmost tip of Nakagawa City.
This spot has three areas where you can get in touch with nature: BASE, the base of Gokayama Cross, which offers a panoramic view of the rich natural surroundings; mont-bell GOKAYAMA BASE CAMP, the first campsite in Japan run by Mont-bell; and RIVER PARK, a park where you can enjoy playing in the river.
RIVER PARK is located directly below Gokayama Dam, which is the largest dam in Fukuoka Prefecture in terms of total water storage volume and length of embankment.
You can splash around in the shallow water, or bring a swim ring and enjoy the flow of the river with your whole body. There are many ways to enjoy the water.
A walk along the river is also recommended.

[Suemachi] Nakajima Waterfront Park
Nakajima Waterfront Park is a flowing water pool that uses the flow of the Sue River, 20m wide, 120m long, and about 40cm deep at its deepest point. It is only open in the summer, and in 2025 it is scheduled to be open from July 12th (Sat) to August 31st (Sun).
There is also a gazebo where you can take a cool break.

There is also a water play area for toddlers that branches off from the stream, so even small children can enjoy it.

As this is a natural river, if the water becomes muddy or the water level rises, evacuate immediately. Large stones and other hard objects may be washed away, so we recommend wearing marine shoes.

[Asakura City] Amagi Water Culture Village
Amagi Water Culture Village is a theme park where you can learn about the importance and wonder of water in a fun way.
Only available during the summer (check the website for opening dates), you can enjoy splashing around in the water at the Water Palette in the Aqua Culture Zone (200 yen per person aged 3 and over, use until 4:30 p.m.).
*Children are not allowed to use the facility alone. Children of elementary school age or younger must be accompanied by a guardian.
The water is shallow, about 30cm deep. Even small children who are still in diapers can use it (please make sure they wear swim diapers), so it is recommended for children to make their first splash in the water. You can also bring swim rings and other items.

In addition to the "Water Palette," you can also splash around in the water at the "Interactive Fountain."

There is also a BBQ Corner in the Lawn Square in the Aquaculture Zone (1,650 yen per plot, reservation required, available from 10:00 to 17:00 from April to October and 10:00 to 16:00 from November to March). It's great to be able to enjoy it while splashing around in the water.
The facility also houses the Green Sports Zone, where you can enjoy playground equipment, and the Asakura Auto Campsite (check the website for details such as fees).

[Kurume City] Mizunuma Village 2000th Anniversary Forest Jabjab Square
Mizunuma no Sato 2000th Anniversary Forest is a vast, lush park covering an area of approximately 62,000 square meters.
The fountain at "Jabu-Jabu Square" operates every year from around mid-July to around mid-September. It is designed to evoke the continuity of water from the waterfalls and ponds of a Japanese garden, and the fountain shoots out powerful water from five locations. It's very popular with children, as they can play in the water!

[Kurume City] Ichinose Waterfront Park
Ichinose Waterside Park has the theme of "A park where you can see and experience the four seasons." There is a "Waterside Plaza" where you can swim in the Takara River that runs through the park. The gentle flow of the river is also the secret to its popularity. There is no time limit, so you can enjoy it all year round.
The water is clean, and you can see fireflies dancing around during the rainy season (the best time to see them is usually early June).

[Yame City] Yabegawa Genryu Park Community River Pool
Yabegawa Genryu Park is located upstream of the Hinatakami Dam. From the end of the rainy season until around September, a "river pool" that makes use of the flow of the Yabegawa River will be open.
*As this pool is made up of a natural river, it may be unavailable in the event of heavy rain or flooding.

The cool, clear water feels great! The water is 80cm to 1m deep. There are also shallow areas where small children can splash around.
*Infants and small children must wear diapers for swimming.

Another great thing about the area is the tourist and product exchange facility "Soma no Sato," located just a two-minute walk away, where you can have a meal, take a break, and buy souvenirs.

[Ukiha City] Choonnotaki Park Flowing Water Pool
"Asono Falls Park" was built in a valley, with "Asono Falls", "Uogeri Falls", and "Oonobuchi Falls" at its center. In 1995, it was selected as one of the "100 Best Water Source Forests" by the Forestry Agency.
*Currently, due to deterioration of the footpaths at Uogeri Falls and Oobuchi Falls, access to the waterfall basins is prohibited.
You can enjoy the beauty of each season, from the fresh greenery of spring to the autumn leaves, but the "flowing water pool" that is open to the public free of charge during the summer (summer vacation period, July 20th to August 24th in 2025) is a big hit with children! The pool uses water drawn from the Kose River, so it's cool and refreshing.

The "Somen Nagashi" event (July 20th to August 24th in 2025), which starts at the same time as the summer "Opening of the Waterfall" (July 20th in 2025), also attracts many people.

Noda River Park makes use of the natural beauty of the Hikosan River.

[Tagawa District, Aka Village] Genji no Mori Campsite
Genji no Mori is a complex that includes a campsite, accommodation, and hot spring facilities.

The campsite entrance fee (Green Membership Fee) is 100 yen for elementary school students and 200 yen for junior high school students and above, and you can splash around in the Imagawa River that runs through the campsite (entry may be restricted depending on the level of congestion).
*The setting up of tents, tarps, and use of leisure sheets are prohibited.
There is a shallow "Riverside Area" and a slightly deeper "Green Shower Garden," so children can play in areas suited to their age.
There is a day spa close to the facility, so you can enjoy a relaxing bath after playing and then head home.

Yamada Ryokuchi is a large regional park covering approximately 140 hectares that is used as a nature observation and learning facility and as an educational facility for elementary and junior high schools.

You can splash around in the water in the "Lawn Square" near the entrance gate.

An artificial stream flows all year round except in the winter (roughly December to January). The water is shallow, so even small children can play there safely.
During the summer, simple sunshades are sometimes installed, which is great news for parents watching over the children!

[Kitakyushu City, Kokuraminami Ward] Soraland Hiraodai Seseragi Square
Soraland Hiraodai is a nature experience park that makes use of the magnificent scenery of Hiraodai, one of Japan's leading karst plateaus dotted with white limestone.
From late April to late September every year (subject to change depending on the temperature), you can enjoy splashing around in the water at the "Seseragi Square." The water is 5-20cm deep and uses spring water from Hiraodai, so it's cool and refreshing!

There is also the "Yu-Yu Square" with its playground equipment such as slides and tunnels, and the "Heidi Swing" which is famous for its spectacular scenery, so you can have a lot of fun for the whole day.

A summer staple at Green Park is the "Splash Pond" (ages 3 and up). The water is about 20cm deep, and it also has a slide and a fountain. In 2025, it is scheduled to be open from July 5th (Saturday) to September 7th (Sunday) (the fountain will be in operation irregularly).

In addition, under the title "Water Play in Green Park," visitors will be able to enjoy water play equipment for children aged 3 and above, such as the Pacific Water Slider (fee required) and Power Paddler (fee required), located around the Splash Pond, on weekends and holidays from July 19th (Saturday) to September 7th (Sunday), 2025 (excluding park holidays) and during the Obon period from August 13th (Wednesday) to 15th (Friday).

Also making its debut will be a vinyl fountain pool where you can play while wearing diapers!

[Miyako Town, Kyoto County] Firefly Village Park
At Hotaru no Sato Park, you can enjoy playing in the river along the Harai River. The 2m high, 3.5m long water slide that uses the river water is very popular.

[Buzen City] Kubote River Park
Kubote River Park is located right next to Shiki no Sanso Kubote, one of the largest campsites in Fukuoka Prefecture.

The river pool that uses the water from the Iwatake River is very popular! Every year, the river opens on Marine Day (the third Monday of July).
On the day of the river opening, a ceremony is held, and the annual "Yamame Trout Catch" event is also held! Once caught, the Yamame can be grilled with salt on the spot.
Because it is surrounded by mountains, it is relatively cool even in summer, making it a comfortable place to stay.
