A special event to be held at a long-established hot spring inn in a building over 100 years old that was loved by important people (Fukuoka)

This time, it's a June-only event at a long-established hot spring inn in Chikushino City.

Only from June 6th to 30th! "Daimaru Besso" celebrates its 160th anniversary with a public exhibition of the oldest building, "Taishotei", before it was renovated.

About 30 minutes by car from central Fukuoka.

Daimaru Besso, a ryokan in Futsukaichi Onsen, Chikushino City, Fukuoka Prefecture, will celebrate its 160th anniversary in 2025.

To commemorate this, the "Taishotei Public Exhibition" will be held from Friday, June 6th to Monday, June 30th, 2025.

Built in 1918, the pure wooden Taishotei has a history of 107 years. The Emperor has stayed here, and it is a historic building beloved by famous people such as the author Seicho Matsumoto.

Currently, entry to the building is prohibited, but during the "Taishotei Public Exhibition" you can enter the building and enjoy the atmosphere of the Taisho era romance.

Historical documents and artworks stored at Daimaru Besso are also on display, so you can also experience the history and culture of the region.

Due to the building's aging, earthquake-resistance and interior renovations are planned, so this is your only chance to experience the building and its current atmosphere!

For three days, from 1:00 p.m. on June 12th (Thursday), 19th (Thursday), and 26th (Thursday), 2025, you can enjoy the special bento lunches that were served to the Crown Prince (now the Emperor) and other important figures 20 years ago, limited to 10 people each day.

This luxurious meal uses an abundance of extravagant ingredients, including sukiyaki-style beef, soft-boiled abalone, sea bream and tuna temari sushi, and kuruma prawn tempura.
