A refreshing weekend getaway! A highly-equipped glamping facility with "great light art" (Yamaguchi Prefecture)

Hello. I'm Yuri and I love going out with my kids.

This time we went to Mine City, Yamaguchi Prefecture! We stayed at a glamping facility that is perfect for family trips.

Near Akiyoshido Cave! Redondo Akiyoshidai, an art-themed glamping facility (Mine City, Yamaguchi Prefecture)

It is about a two-hour drive from Fukuoka city and about 20 minutes from Mine IC on the Chugoku Expressway.

Redondo Akiyoshidai, which opened in August 2022, is said to be Yamaguchi Prefecture's first dome-type glamping facility.

It is located about a 3-minute drive from Akiyoshido Cave, one of the largest limestone caves in Japan, making it a fun area for sightseeing.

There are also board games to play indoors! Unfortunately the weather was bad on the day our family checked in, but thanks to the rain we didn't get bored at all.

They also rent out badminton and catch ball equipment for outdoor play.

In winter, you also need to bring cold weather gear. It would be great if there were plenty of free rentals available!

Equipped with private toilets and shower rooms! 6 types of stylish dome tents

Redondo Akiyoshidai has six dome-shaped tents that differ in size, view (hill side or forest side), interior, and more.

We stayed in the Sleeping Sheep Type 5, which can accommodate up to four people.

All tents are equipped with air conditioning and heating, so you can stay comfortable all year round.

Next to the dome tents, each building has its own toilets, shower rooms, and dining areas (which we will introduce later).

While most glamping facilities have shared toilets and baths, it's nice to have individual ones.

A very satisfying plan with 1 night stay and 2 meals! A luxurious BBQ where you can savour the lavish ingredients from Yamaguchi Prefecture♡

This time, we chose the "One night stay with two meals plan" (from 34,200 yen per person for elementary school students and above, free for preschoolers). In addition, there is also the "overnight stay with no meals" plan (from 25,400 yen per person) where you can bring your own food.

Each tent has a private covered space where you can enjoy BBQ.

For dinner, you can enjoy to your heart's content the "BBQ Osechi" meal made with ingredients from Yamaguchi Prefecture.

Look at these colorful ingredients.

The ingredients are prepared in the fridge so you can cook your own food.

The meat menu is extremely luxurious, including steaks made from the branded Japanese beef "Yamaguchi Wagyu Kirameki," sausages made from Yamaguchi's branded pork "Hagi Mutsumi Pork," and "Choshu Chicken," which is raised in a free-range environment where it is less exposed to stress.

You can season it to your liking with Japanese sauce, Western sauce, or rock salt.

The steak at San in particular was meaty and delicious, with every bite filled with flavor.

The sausages were a big hit with the kids, and were juicy with no added fat.

The chicken had just the right amount of texture and was delicious, as you would expect from Yamaguchi's proud brand of chicken.

The unusual "baked potato salad" is a dish that is unique to BBQs.

The colorful bijou topped with plenty of beans was also cute. It was spicy with black pepper, but the melted cheese made it mild enough. It was very filling and very satisfying.

Hot minestrone soup is a favorite in our house.

The aroma of garlic, the sourness of tomatoes, and the sweetness of onions are irresistible. Even though it's for BBQ, the taste is authentic.

Feel free to drink the water and orange juice in the fridge.

Tableware and other utensils were provided, so you could really enjoy the experience empty-handed.

Enjoy roasting marshmallows and chopping firewood over a bonfire.

You can enjoy a bonfire in the fire pit in front of each tent.

You can also enjoy roasted marshmallows using the marshmallows that were included with your dinner.

I also tried the optional "Firewood + Firewood Chopping Experience" (1,760 yen).

Even the adults were excited by this valuable experience.

As we are beginners when it comes to splitting firewood, we struggled at first, but we gradually got the hang of it and had fun.

Be enchanted by the fantastic atmosphere ♡ Illuminated art at night

At night, the sky is filled with stars. And on the ground, a fantastic atmosphere is created!

Redondo Akiyoshidai Light Art

Image: Yurichan

With a forest about 100 meters in size as a backdrop, there is a breathtakingly beautiful illumination and musical performance for two hours every day (the time differs between summer and winter).

The extraordinary atmosphere will help you forget your busy everyday life.

By the way, we could see the beautiful lights from the tent where our family stayed.

Since it's glamping, you can spend your mornings relaxing and elegantly!

And for breakfast, we had hot sandwiches with ham and cheese.

Adults can enjoy a relaxing coffee break. There is a coffee maker in the accommodation space, and each person can receive a capsule coffee at the administration building when they check in.

Why does coffee taste so good when you drink it at a glamping site surrounded by rich nature?

It was a very meaningful time.

The whole family was thoroughly satisfied with the two days, with hospitable hospitality, fantastic light art displays, delicious food, and lovely rooms.

We recommend sightseeing after checking out.

There are popular tourist spots in the area, so we recommend checking out at 10am and then sightseeing.

Just a three minute drive away is Akiyoshido, one of Japan's largest limestone caves,

Yamaguchi Prefecture has many tourist spots that represent the prefecture, including Akiyoshidai, one of the largest karst plateaus in Japan.
