Delicious meals, bedrock baths, and family baths! A natural hot spring with great facilities for a relaxing stay (Shimonoseki)

This time, we will introduce you to a natural hot spring located in Shimonoseki city, Yamaguchi prefecture, which is surrounded by lush greenery and is very relaxing.
There is also a bedrock bath, a family bath, and a restaurant! "Waraku no Yu Shimonoseki Seiryu" hot spring facility on the "Yume Mall Shimonoseki" premises (Shimonoseki City, Yamaguchi Prefecture)
Waraku-no-Yu Shimonoseki Seiryu is a hot spring facility located within the grounds of Yume Mall Shimonoseki, about a 3-minute drive from Shimonoseki IC.
There is a spacious free parking lot, so it is convenient to go by car.

Once you enter the facility, you will first pay the admission fee at the reception desk.
Adults pay 980 yen on weekdays, 1,280 yen on weekends and holidays, and members pay 780 yen on weekdays, 1,080 yen on weekends and holidays. Elementary school students pay 600 yen all day, and children under elementary school pay 300 yen all day. Those aged 12 and over will be charged a separate bathing tax of 50 yen.
This is fine if you are only using the large public bath (10:00 - 23:00, last check-in at 22:00), but if you wish to use the bedrock bath (10:00 - 22:20, last check-in at 21:30) or family bath (10:00 - 22:20, last check-in at 22:00), you will need to pay an additional fee.
The bedrock bath is free all day long, and on weekdays it costs 800 yen for adults and 700 yen for members, and on weekends and holidays it costs 1,000 yen for adults and 800 yen for members (※You cannot use the bedrock bath alone). The family bath is 2,900 yen on weekdays and 3,300 yen on weekends and holidays, and both are 60 minutes long (※You can make a reservation by phone one week in advance).

In addition, the facility offers a variety of other amenities, including restaurants, beauty salons, and souvenir shops, and also hosts weekly events.
There was also a wide variety of drinks and ice creams available, perfect for after a bath.
Relax in 7-8 types of natural hot springs
"Waraku-no-Yu Shimonoseki Seiryu" will celebrate its 10th anniversary in April 2025. There are 7 types of indoor baths in the men's bath and 8 types of indoor baths in the women's bath, as well as an open-air bath and a sauna, where you can spend a relaxing time.
What surprised me when I visited was how clean the facility was! I had no idea it had been 10 years.
*This time, we were given special permission to take photos of the women's bath. Normally, cell phones are not allowed inside.
Both the men's and women's indoor baths have a large hot water bath called "Kinunoyu," a "Jacuzzi," and an "infrared sauna." In addition, the men's bath has a "meditation sauna," and the women's bath has a "low-temperature salt sauna."
Another nice feature is that some of the shower heads in the women's bath are "Refa"!

The open-air baths for men are designed with beautiful straight lines, while the women's bath has an elegant design with beautiful curves.
There are three types of baths for men: "Bamboo Forest Bath", "Oiwa Bath", and "Lying Down Bath", while the women's bath has four: "Healing Bath", "Cut Stone Bath", "Barrel Bath", and "Lying Down Bath". The women's "Healing Bath" and "Barrel Bath" sometimes hold events where you can enjoy "alternating baths".
Enjoy a blissful moment while looking up at the vast sky above Shimonoseki.

Amenities available in the changing rooms of the hot spring include shampoo, conditioner, body soap, lotion, milky lotion, a hair dryer (they even have "Refa"!), cotton swabs, cotton, aftershave lotion, and a hairbrush. There is also a hair iron in the "powder room" in the women's bath.

In the "Souvenir Shop," there was a huge selection of hot spring goods and "Refa" products, so many that it's impossible to convey them all in a photo. The selection is so good that just looking at them makes me excited.
Choose from 4 types of family baths
There are four types of family baths: "Stone and Wood Bath Hina," "Barrel Bath Yo" (first photo below), "Lava Bath Shu" (second photo below), and "Ring Rock Bath." All of them are 60 minutes long and cost 2,900 yen on weekdays and 3,300 yen on weekends and holidays. Reservations can be made by phone one week in advance, but please note that the available reservation times vary depending on the bath (you can check the website).

A restaurant offering a variety of carefully selected dishes
Be sure to also check out the "Dining" area (11:00-21:00, last orders 20:30).
In addition to table seating, the restaurant also has spacious private rooms with large windows, making it ideal for families with children.
A great deal available only during weekday lunchtimes! A set plan for bathing and dining
This time, I used the set plan for bathing and meals, which is only available during weekday lunch hours. It costs just 1,660 yen for adults and 1,460 yen for members, including the bath fee! Food must be ordered between 11:00 and 15:00.
For meals, you can choose from the "Choshu Chicken Fillet Cutlet Set Meal" or the "Plump Fried Horse Mackerel Set Meal," both of which use a brand of chicken from Yamaguchi Prefecture.
The "Choshu Chicken Breast Cutlet" is thick but soft, with a delicious flavor that fills your mouth!
The "Fluffy Fried Horse Mackerel Set Meal" is exactly as its name suggests, with fluffy fried horse mackerel! Combined with the crispy batter, I couldn't stop eating.
Women only! A colorful meal to enjoy on weekdays for lunch
The "Colorful Chicken Nanban Gozen" (1,380 yen, first photo below) and "Colorful Cheese Hamburger Gozen" (1,380 yen, second photo below), which are only available to women on weekdays from 11:00 to 15:00, are also very popular.
The meal includes a main dish, three colorful side dishes, salad, rice, miso soup, dessert, and a drink bar.
The juicy and delicious "Colorful Chicken Nanban Gozen" is a dish that has many repeat customers, with a particular attention even to the tartar sauce. The new menu item "Colorful Cheese Hamburger Gozen" is a perfect combination of fluffy and soft texture, mellow cheese, and elegant tomato sauce.
The three colorful side dishes are cherry tomatoes and mozzarella cheese with pesto sauce, roast beef with carrot rapée, and thick omelet with mentaiko sauce.
All were surprisingly delicious with a real taste.

For dessert, we had coffee jelly with whipped mascarpone cream. This was also delicious and made for a very satisfying lunch.

As you leave the restaurant, you'll find drinks and ice cream on sale, which you'll want to buy! There's such a wide variety that it's hard to decide which one to get. They even have Cold Stone ice cream.

In addition to the "Rest Area" (free of charge) where you can relax in a tatami-floored room, there is also the "Yuraku" (fee required) where you can experience the ultimate in relaxation, including body care and exfoliation, making this a truly well-equipped hot spring facility.
