A spectacular spot certified as a "Japan Night View Heritage"! A park full of nature (Kokurakita Ward, Kitakyushu City)
Hello♪ My name is Kanabun and I love going on night drives on weekends with my two boys who also love going out.
Speaking of Kitakyushu City, it was ranked first in 2022 as one of the "New Top Three Night View Cities in Japan" (certified by the Night View Tourism Convention Bureau), which is updated every three years. In addition, there are many spots certified as "Japan Night View Heritage" (Japan Night View Heritage Secretariat), including "Sarakurayama", "Takatoyama Park", and "Mojiko Retro Observation Room"!
Kitakyushu City is a treasure trove of night views, and I, as a local, would like to introduce some of my recommendations. These are spots that have been certified as "Japan Night View Heritage."
The changing nature of the seasons is also appealing! Adachi Park Observatory offers a panoramic view of Kokura city (Kitakyushu City, Kokurakita Ward, Komonji, etc.)
Adachi Park, rich in nature and located at the foot of Mt. Adachi, is about a five-minute drive from the Adachi Interchange on the Kitakyushu Urban Expressway.
Many people probably know that you can get a panoramic view of the nightscape of downtown Kokura from the observation deck, but this is actually an attractive spot when the sun is out too!
Adachi Park is the only park in Kitakyushu that has been selected as one of Japan's Top 100 Forests for Forest Bathing (Japan Forest, Waterfall and Beach National Council). During daylight hours, you can have a picnic at the observation plaza, stroll along the promenade, enjoy seasonal nature such as cherry blossoms and autumn leaves, or go hiking up Mount Tonokami and Mount Kazeshi in Moji Ward, or go jogging or walking.
On weekends you can also see families there.
There are also many benches in the Observation Plaza.
The view looks different depending on where you sit. Why not try to find your favorite view?
Recommended for dates too ♡ A once-in-a-lifetime night view from the observation deck
We also recommend visiting at sunset. The view changes depending on the season and weather.
You can enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime view that can only be seen at that time.
The view from the top of the stairs to the observation deck is spectacular!
This is the night view that has been certified as a "Japan Night View Heritage"! If the weather is good, you can even see Mount Sarakura and Wakato Bridge.
You can see the Media Dome, JR Kokura Station, and the Ferris wheel at Chacha Town. It's exciting to see a view that is different from the daytime.
Even on days when it's too cold to go out to the observation deck, you can still enjoy the night view from inside your car.
It's also a recommended spot for dates ♡
By the way, when you go to the observation deck, you pass in front of the nursing home grounds, so you may wonder if it is okay to enter there. It may be a little confusing, especially at night.
I passed the nursing home and continued up the hill...
You will see the Adachi Park Observatory parking lot (open all day, free).
When you feel like taking in the night view, or when you feel like having a relaxing picnic surrounded by nature, why not visit this place with your family, friends, or loved ones? (Text by Kanabun)
