Shiki Theatre Company's musical "The Phantom of the Opera" is coming back to Fukuoka! Performances scheduled for fall 2025

We have some happy news that will have us looking forward to next fall!

In the fall of 2025, the Shiki Theatre Company's musical "The Phantom of the Opera" will be performed at Canal City Theater in Hakata Ward, Fukuoka City.

The musical "The Phantom of the Opera" is based on the novel of the same name by French author Gaston Leroux.

The Phantom lives in the basement of the Paris Opera House and falls in love with the diva Christine. The story of his tragic love is woven by composer Andrew Lloyd Webber's elegant and profound melodies.

Since its premiere in 1988, Shiki Theatre Company has performed the show in 10 cities across Japan, with a total audience of over 8 million and over 8,000 performances, making it the third most popular musical in Japan after "The Lion King" and "Cats." It is one of Japan's leading musical productions.

This will be the third time the show has been performed at Canal City Theater in about 21 years!

The show is scheduled to be performed at Canal City Theater in the fall of 2025.

This will be the third time that "The Phantom of the Opera" will be performed in Fukuoka, following its premiere performance from May 1996 to January the following year, which attracted about 290,000 people as the opening performance of Shiki Theatre Company's first permanent theater, "Fukuoka City Theater (now Canal City Theater)," and its second Fukuoka performance from August 2003 to March the following year. It has been about 21 years since the last performance!

Details such as dates and release dates will be announced as soon as they are decided, but the performances are scheduled to take place over several months.
