[2024 Summer Vacation Event] Fukuoka City's "Night Zoo and Botanical Garden" will be held every Saturday until September 14th!
We bring you information on noteworthy events for the summer vacation of 2024.
This time, we will introduce the extremely popular annual event, "Night Zoo and Botanical Gardens"!
[August 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th, 31st, September 7th, 14th] Only for 7 days! Fukuoka City Zoological and Botanical Gardens "Night Zoological and Botanical Gardens"
The "Night Zoo and Botanical Garden" at the Fukuoka City Zoological and Botanical Gardens is held every Saturday from August to the second week of September.
The normal opening hours are from 9:00 to 17:00, but on the following seven days (all Saturdays) - August 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th, 31st, and September 7th and 14th - the park will be open until 21:00 (last entry at 20:30).
You can still enter the park from 9:00 in the morning, and the admission fees are the same as usual (600 yen for adults, 300 yen for high school students, free for junior high school students and younger), which is a nice touch.

We will introduce the highlights of each of the zoo and botanical garden areas.
[Zoo area] Observe nocturnal animals
The zoo area's greatest attraction is that it offers a different experience to that of the daytime, with lively nocturnal animals and fantastical flamingos illuminated by lights.

You can also watch the zookeepers give you a guided tour of the zoo's attractions and watch the animals eat (the schedule for guided tours and feedings is posted on the zoo's website).

[Zoo area] Penguin area light-up
The penguin area is lit up exclusively during the "Night Zoo and Botanical Gardens".
This is a view that can only be seen during this period.

[Zoo area] Starting at 17:00! Giving ice to Japanese macaques
On the days when the "Night Zoo and Botanical Garden" is held, from 5:00 p.m. onwards, the Japanese macaques will be given gifts of frozen fruit and other items.

[Botanical Garden Area] Grass Square "Green Park on a Summer Night"
The botanical garden area of "Night Zoo and Botanical Gardens" is "Green Park on a Summer Night."
The lawn plaza will be transformed into a space of light, sound and play, centered around the Botanical Life Square, which opened in March 2023.
Not only does the space between the trees become lit up, creating a fantastical atmosphere, but events are also held weekly! There are workshops, live music, light and sound performances and more that both adults and children can enjoy (details about the events will be posted at the office tent at the main gate of the botanical gardens and on the gardens' social media).
There will also be a wide variety of gourmet foods on offer, including food trucks and tents! You're sure to be satisfied in both your stomach and your heart.
*Food, beverage and merchandise sales are open until 20:30, and the event is open until 20:45.
[Botanical Garden Area] Greenhouse Light-up
The illuminated "Conservatory" is a great photo spot for social media, and is unique to the "Night Zoo and Botanical Gardens."
You can enjoy the flowers that bloom at night, such as the hanging flower and Paraguayan water lily.
[Botanical Garden Area] Evening Primrose Flowering Show
The Evening Primrose Flowering Show is also a very popular event every time.
Your best chance to see the flowers bloom is roughly 30 minutes after sunset! You'll have the rare experience of watching the flowers bloom right before your eyes.

[Animal Information Center ZooLab] Workshop
At the ZooLab, located at the zoo's main gate and containing the general information desk, there will be workshops (numbered tickets required) where you can have fun learning about animals, making your visit to the Night Zoo even more enjoyable.

[Main Gate Square] Locally produced food, beer, and glowing goods
Cafe La Sombre and Gift Shop Petit Monde, located at the main gate of the zoo, sell locally produced menu items, beer, glow-in-the-dark goods, and more in tents in the Main Gate Plaza.

[Children's Zoo Cafeteria] Favorite Color Float
"Favorite Color Float" will be sold at the "Children's Zoo Dining Hall."

[Observation Deck Cafe] Hand-held seafood
The Observation Deck Cafe next to the Botanical Garden Observation Deck offers hand-held seafood.
Serving times are 17:00-21:00 (last orders 20:30). Only the first 10 meals are available from 17:00, so if you want to try it, be quick!
You can have a great time enjoying seafood and beer while taking in the night view.

Apparently, the surrounding roads get very crowded every year when the "Night Zoo and Botanical Gardens" is held.
Starting this spring, you can check the parking lot congestion status (full, crowded, empty) on the web (https://pages.vacan.com/174d42a136594d), but we recommend using public transportation such as the Fukuoka City Subway or Nishitetsu Bus. *The free shuttle bus "ZOO Bus" will not be operating.
