No restaurant?! A noteworthy hotel by Marriott opened next to the roadside station in Ukiha City
Hello. I'm ayu.latte, a writer who loves traveling and eating delicious food.
A hotel designed by the famous Marriott has opened in Ukiha City, a city famous for its fruits! I immediately went to check it out.
"Fairfield by Marriott Fukuoka Ukiha" opens next to "Roadside Station Ukiha"!
Fairfield by Marriott Fukuoka Ukiha opened in Ukiha City on August 31, 2023.
This will be the first to open in Fukuoka Prefecture and the third in Kyushu after Tarumizu Sakurajima in Kagoshima and Ureshino Onsen in Saga.
Speaking of "Marriott," it is "Marriott International," one of the world's largest hotel chains, operating various brands of hotels around the world, including "Marriott" and "Ritz-Carlton"!
As part of the Fairfield by Marriott Roadside Station Project, seven Fairfield by Marriott hotels will open across Japan in 2023, including Fukuoka Ukiha (some are scheduled to open in the future).
Next to the hotel is "Ukiha Roadside Station," a popular spot that has been ranked number one for eight consecutive years as "Everyone's Favorite Roadside Station" in Kyushu and Yamaguchi Prefecture (according to Kyushu Jalan survey).
Apparently, 500,000 people come to shop at this roadside station every year!
Ukiha City is also famous for being the only city in Japan that does not have a running water system. Thanks to its fresh, high-quality water, it is a town where you can enjoy fresh fruit all year round.
The store at Roadside Station Ukiha is filled with fruit! Approximately 50 varieties of grapes alone are grown in Ukiha city, and they sell the most delicious varieties in season.
The perfect hotel to use as a base for your trip!
"Fairfield by Marriott Fukuoka Ukiha" is a hotel specializing in lodging, located next to a roadside station. Roadside stations, which were previously just a place to rest or pass through, are now a base for travelers, and guests can use the roadside stations and local shops for meals and souvenirs, allowing them to interact with local people and enjoy traveling to and from the roadside stations.
There are two types of rooms: King Rooms and Twin Rooms, with a total of 51 rooms. Rates for both start from 16,130 yen per room per night.
There are also rooms on the first floor that are wheelchair accessible and barrier-free.
The room floors are made of soft wood, so soft that when you step on it, your feet feel light and fluffy.
It's a really wonderful space.
Each room offers a panoramic view of the Mino Mountain Range and the Chikugo Plain. It's like a painting.
The tap water in the rooms is, of course, groundwater that springs from the Chikugo River system!
In addition, the rooms do not have bathtubs, only showers (the barrier-free rooms on the first floor have bathtubs). This is because there are hot springs such as "Haratsuru Onsen" and "Chikugogawa Onsen" nearby, so you can easily enjoy day trips to hot springs.
Certainly, you'll want to visit hot springs when you travel, so it wouldn't be a problem if they weren't available in your room.
There is no restaurant in the hotel because there are plenty of delicious food options in the surrounding area!
Also, since this is a hotel that specializes in accommodation, there is no restaurant on-site.
The reason for this is that we want people to enjoy Ukiha even more by using local shops, including roadside stations, for meals and souvenirs.
You can get seasonal fruits at the nearby Ukiha Roadside Station, and there are also many tourist farms in the city. There are also plenty of shops selling sweets made with fresh fruit.
The area is also a major producer of udon and soba noodles, and is counted as one of Kyushu's three major noodle producing areas.
If you want to eat something delicious in this area, there are plenty of places to go.
There is also a shop selling products from Ukiha and a comfortable common space.
By the way, the hotel does not have a restaurant, but there is a space called the "Marketplace" where you can enjoy light meals in the privacy of your room.
In addition to cup ramen with flavors unique to Kyushu, risotto and pork soup that can be heated and eaten, you can also purchase alcohol, soft drinks, and fruit produced in Ukiha City.
The shared space is equipped with a large dining table, oven, microwave, and other facilities, and you can also boil water, so you can cook the items you purchase and take them back to your room to eat, or just eat them as they are.
Coffee, cafe latte, black tea, green tea leaves, instant miso soup, and other drinks are available for free use during your stay.
There is also a co-working space on the first floor. Each seat is equipped with an electrical outlet, so you can hold web conferences using your computer here.
Also noteworthy are the artefacts and books related to Ukiha on display.
There was also a terrace where you could have a pleasant time.
Enjoy breakfast too! The "Breakfast Box" is packed with the charms of Ukiha
There is also a plan (from 20,130 yen per room) that includes a "Breakfast Box" using Ukiha's local specialties and famous dishes. It includes nine types of dishes, including rice and vegetables, as well as fruits, that are grown in Ukiha.
The meal is packed with delicious dishes that are unique to Ukiha, such as tender Mimino pork nanban, mixed rice with Ukiha-produced square bamboo shoots, vegetable stew, and homemade sashimi konjac. The dessert included chiffon cake with seasonal fruits, fruit coleslaw, and jam from Ukiha! It was great to be able to try so many different things ♡ It was a very satisfying meal.
If you use the Fairfield by Marriott Fukuoka Ukiha as your base of operations, you'll be able to fully experience the charms of Ukiha, including its food, hot springs, and sightseeing. Why not take advantage of this and enjoy Ukiha even more? (Text by ayu.latte)
