This time, we will introduce a set meal restaurant that opened this year in Kokuraminami Ward, Kitakyushu City.

The signature dish is the hearty pork steak! Set meal restaurant "Butaya Shokudo Kokuraminami Branch" (Tokuyoshi Higashi, Kokuraminami Ward, Kitakyushu City) will open in 2025

Butaya Shokudo Kokuraminami branch is located about a 10-minute walk from Tokuriki Arashiyamaguchi Station on the Kitakyushu Monorail.

This restaurant is famous for its thickly sliced pork steaks, and the Kokuraminami branch is scheduled to open on January 28, 2025. There are two other branches in Fukuoka Prefecture: the Fukudaimae main branch and the Okagakimachi branch.

The Kokura Minami store has counter seats, table seats, and raised seating, making it an easy space to visit whether you're alone or with your family.

Try the hearty set meal menu!

The menu includes set meals (with rice and miso soup) from 770 yen, and rice bowls (with miso soup) from 680 yen.

Let me introduce the menu we ordered this time.

Pork steak set meal with soft-boiled egg

When it comes to Buta-ya Shokudo, you have to try their specialty, tonteki...!

There are several types of tonteki alone, and this time I ordered the standard "Tonteki Teishoku" (1,080 yen) with a soft-boiled egg, the "Ontama Tonteki Teishoku" (1,190 yen), with "1.5 times the meat" (+280 yen) and "extra large serving of rice" (+80 yen). By the way, you can also get "extra large serving" of rice (+160 yen).

We were given a special look inside the kitchen, where we saw thickly sliced meat and a mountain of cabbage! The meat used is pork shoulder loin, which is full of flavor. Even the regular size is 200g, so it's very filling.

It is grilled in a slightly sweet and spicy sauce made with Worcestershire sauce and plenty of vegetables and apples, making it perfect for eating with rice.

At this point, you can already tell it's delicious, as the sizzling sound and aroma alone makes you want to eat the rice.

The meat is cut thick and meaty, but not tough and has a soft texture.

Combined with the sweet and spicy sauce, the more you eat, the more your appetite will be stimulated.

Buta-ya's Chicken Nanban Set Meal

Another dish you should definitely order is the "Butayano Chicken Nanban" (820 yen for 3 pieces, 950 yen for 4 pieces, 1,080 yen for 5 pieces). *The photo shows 5 pieces.

The crispy and juicy fried chicken nanban is topped with a flavorful sauce that enhances the tastiness of the meat.

The combination of the light batter and the tender texture of the meat will have you coming back for more.

The tartar sauce is light and comes separately, so you can add as much as you like.

Buta-ya Deluxe Set Meal

If you're feeling greedy, we recommend ordering the "Butaya Deluxe Set Meal" (1,360 yen).

Here you can enjoy two dishes: a tonteki (regular size 200g) and a slightly smaller tonkatsu!

Not only the tonteki, but also the fragrant deep-fried pork cutlet with sauce goes well with rice. Both were delicious.
