You'll want to brag about your knowledge! A hidden gem of a cafe offering a superb selection of baked goods and quiches (Kitakyushu City)

Hello. I'm Honosuke, a rice farmer who also loves wheat-based foods.

This time, we will introduce you to a shop in Fujimi, Kokuraminami-ku, Kitakyushu City that is a must-see for lovers of quiche and baked goods!

Kanaya, a cafe that enriches your daily life with delicious food (Fujimi, Kokuraminami Ward, Kitakyushu City)

Kanaya is a cafe specializing in baked goods that opened in July 2021. It was formerly Hira Kitchen, which was located in Kokurakita Ward, Kitakyushu City, and has since changed its name and relocated.

It is easily accessible, just a 6-minute walk from Kitakyushu Monorail Jono Station and a 7-minute walk from JR Jono Station!

There is one parking space next to the store.

Whenever I open the door, the owner always greets me with a bright smile and says "Hello!"

The display case is lined with scones, financiers, quiches, and more. They are all carefully handmade using only the finest ingredients, such as "Yotsuba butter" and "pure fresh cream."

The moment I look at the display case surrounded by the delicious aroma of baked goods, I can't help but feel excited ♡

The products are available for both eat-in and take-out. Baked goods can also be gift-wrapped. Advance reservations are recommended!

I always have a lot of fun thinking about things like, "Should I give some scones as a gift to my friend?" or "Should I buy some quiche for my family dinner?"

The interior of the restaurant has two counter seats and three two-seat tables. The warm colors create a relaxing atmosphere.

Now, let's get started by introducing some recommended products that we would love for everyone to try!

I'm looking forward to the lineup! Delicious "scones"

First, let's start with my favorite, the scones. There are several different varieties available each day. You can check out the lineup on Instagram.

This is the "Espresso Scone" (300 yen). My husband loves these scones, and when they are on the menu that day, he is clearly in a good mood.

The fluffy, crunchy walnut scones are topped with espresso chocolate for a bittersweet taste, and adding the pure fresh cream (110 yen) available only at the eat-in counter will make you even happier ♡

This is the "Bean Jam and Strawberry Scone" (330 yen), which is available during strawberry season. The photo shows the version from last year, but this year they are making it in a baked style with the strawberries.

The combination of red bean paste and strawberries that everyone loves, familiar from strawberry daifuku, is still a great match when made into a scone.

This is the "Scone Plate" (600 yen), which consists of plain whole wheat scones, seasonal jam and fruit, and pure fresh cream (sometimes clotted cream).

It's delicious just as is, but it's even more delicious when dipped in plenty of jam and fresh cream, which brings out the gentle sweetness of the scones!

We also recommend taking the scones to go. You will be given instructions on how to reheat them at home, so you can enjoy them deliciously.

If you purchase the "Plain Scone" (220 yen) along with the clotted cream "Nakazawa Clotted" (450 yen for 100g), which is sold irregularly, you can have a "scone party" just like the ones you get at a shop!

Crispy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside! Our specialty "thick financier"

Also worth checking out are the "Thick Financiers," affectionately nicknamed "Hiranshe" after the owner, Hira-san.

The moment you bite into it, the rich aroma of butter spreads, and it is a luxurious delicacy with a crispy outside and a soft and fluffy texture inside. When you eat it in, it is served warm, so you can enjoy the taste of freshly baked bread.

There are several different flavors available, but the most popular is "Salted Butter" (280 yen).

The salt sprinkled on top is a nice accent that has gained many fans! My friend ate one of these financiers on his way home the first time he bought it, and was so amazed by how delicious it was that he went back to buy some more.

The flavor in question is "Gold Sesame & Sweet Potato" (300 yen).

This is a new type of financier with a fun, fluffy texture from the golden sesame seeds and sweet potato that will delight potato lovers.

We enjoyed a blissful moment with our financiers, accompanied by "hand drip coffee" (480 yen) and "Japanese black tea milk tea" (650 yen).

Not just sweets! Recommended menu for lunch too

One of the must-try items at Kanaiya is the quiche. It is a perfect match of flaky pie crust and the rich flavors of eggs and cheese.

This is the standard item, "Quiche Lorraine" (450 yen).

There are several kinds of quiche on display every day, so I'm always excited to see what's available today.

This is the piping hot "Freshly Baked Croque Monsieur" (700 yen). The bread is from "BAUM," a popular bakery in Tokuriki, Kokuraminami Ward.

When you cut into it, the melted cheese and white sauce ooze out, making you happy ♡ We also recommend changing up the flavor with "Domestic Flower Honey" (+80 yen).

By the way, if you order a drink together with a "freshly baked croque monsieur" or a sandwich, you will receive a 100 yen discount (kids' juices excluded).

The "Pancake Plate (with drink)" (1,500 yen) is served on the irregularly scheduled "Whimsical Morning" days (business hours are from 9:00 to 13:00).

This is an American pancake plate that the owner makes with the thought, "I wonder if someone can make a breakfast like this for me?" The contents change from time to time, but it usually consists of the main pancakes, unsalted bacon, egg dishes, salads, etc.

The photo is of something I had previously. The sweet and salty combination of pancakes drizzled in maple syrup and bacon and eggs was irresistible.

Cute "fruit sandwiches" that let you enjoy seasonal fruits ♡

You can't miss the super cute looking "Fruit Sandwiches" made with seasonal fruits! The bread here is also from "BAUM".

The "Strawberry Fruit Sandwich" (from 1,200 yen) is available at this time of year (usually from late January to the end of February). *Prices vary depending on availability.

Both have a lightly sweet cream that brings out the sweet and sour taste of the fruit, so you'll feel like you can eat as much as you want♪ There's plenty of fruit, so it's very filling. Takeout is also available.

Whenever I leave the store, they always say "Have a nice trip!" to see me off with a smile, and it really warms my heart.
